About The Role

The role of Bid Manager is exceptionally rewarding and you will work across a broad range of interesting client sectors and internal CBRE stakeholders. The Bid Manager plays a vital role in driving the success of our organisation by working in partnership with the Sales Director and North West sales team to oversee the project management and governance of the sales process, particularly at the Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) stages. You may also be required to own and lead top pursuits.

You have exceptional writing skills and may already have bid management experience, or are looking to take the next step in your bid management career. Using your natural leadership skills to foster a strong team culture, you will drive standards by working closely with Business Development Managers (BDM) and Business Unit Sales Coordinators (BUSC) to ensure differentiated, innovative and client-focused proposals are delivered on time and to an exceptional standard.

A key responsibility of this role is to train and develop BUSC’s, sharing your knowledge and skills to help them grow and succeed.

What You’ll Do

Attracting clients

  • Guide and encourage BDM and BUSC client research activity to support client cultivation
  • Assist with preparation of materials for prospective client meetings and presentations
  • Lead (or support) the coordination of North West events by inputting into content, themes and materials
  • Work with the Strategic Development Lead to support BDMs and BUSC’s develop vertical markets.

RFI and RFP process

  • Ensure request for information (RFI) questionnaires are submitted to a high standard
  • Work closely with the sales team to manage proposals from initiation to submission, including:
    • Ensure bid tracker/responsibility matrix is created for every opportunity and team remains organized
    • Response planning and structuring
  • Work with BDMs and BUSCs to develop win themes aligned to client needs
  • Write bespoke bid responses and work closely with the BDM to produce compelling executive summaries
  • Check and challenge BUSC and BDM content, and contributions from others to ensure responses clearly articulate differentiation and win themes
  • Ensure final documents are of the highest quality through design, editing and proofreading
  • Ensure the team is on track for post-proposal activities, helping plan and prepare site visit, presentation and workshop materials.

BUSC community

  • Build and foster a BUSC community to create a high-performing sales support team, including holding weekly catch-ups and workload prioritization meetings
  • Help BUSCs build confidence through coaching, proposal training, and personal development planning
  • Support BUSC recruitment, onboarding and succession planning.

Knowledge and process

  • Work with the Sales Director and Strategic Development Lead to embed and improve process and knowledge across the North West
  • Ensure content library is up to date with professional profiles, account profiles, and case studies; share content with the wider business
  • Stay informed about CBRE, industry knowledge, and innovations, sharing this with your team to enhance bid responses
  • Maintain a consistent process with BDMS and BUSCs for accurate Salesforce reporting.

Networking and collaboration

  • Build an internal network across the Bid Manager community for knowledge sharing and best practice
  • Build relationships with operational leaders and support functions.

  • Bid writing and editing skills are essential. Experience in bid management or sales environment is desirable.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 360 (Word, PowerPoint); SharePoint, InDesign, SmartSheet, and Salesforce are beneficial.

Administration Skills

  • Strong communication and planning skills, organized, able to delegate and manage multiple deadlines.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in bid management, proposal writing, meeting deadlines, leading teams, and stakeholder engagement.

Circumstances & Confidentiality

  • Flexibility to work outside core hours and occasional travel. All work is confidential.

California Residents: The minimum salary is $85,000 and the maximum is $110,000 annually, depending on skills and experience. Successful candidates are eligible for a discretionary bonus.
