An Atlanta based charity is seeking to hire an Executive Director (ED) to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families in need in the Atlanta area. The ED is responsible for the overall strategic, financial, and operational leadership of the organization, ensuring the fulfillment of its mission, vision, and goals. This includes managing a $1M annual budget, overseeing staff, developing partnerships, and engaging with the Board of Directors to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the organization. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Execute existing strategic plan to advance the organization’s mission of supporting kinship families. Identify and respond to trends, challenges, and opportunities in the field of kinship care. Lead organizational growth efforts to expand the reach and impact of programs. Fundraising and Financial Management Develop and execute a diversified fundraising strategy, including individual giving, grants, corporate sponsorships, and special events. Demonstrated ability to craft compelling and competitive grant proposals to achieve the organization’s fundraising goals. Oversee the preparation and management of the organization’s annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency. Build and maintain relationships with major donors, foundations, and funding partners. Operational and Program Oversight Ensure that all programs and services align with the organization’s mission and meet the needs of kinship families. Supervise, support, and develop a team staff members to achieve programmatic and operational excellence. Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture that prioritizes staff well-being, professional growth, and teamwork. Establish and maintain systems for tracking and reporting program outcomes and impact. Provide ongoing performance feedback and conduct regular evaluations to support staff development and accountability. Board Relations and Governance Ensure compliance with all federal and state requirements. Collaborate with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance and alignment with the organization’s mission. Provide regular updates to the Board on organizational performance, challenges, and fundraising opportunities. Support the Board in identifying and recruiting new members with diverse skills and backgrounds. Community Engagement and Advocacy Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing its mission and programs to stakeholders, including kinship families, partners, and policymakers. Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, government agencies, and other key stakeholders to advance the mission. Advocate for policies and practices that benefit kinship families at the local and state levels. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in nonprofit management, social work, public administration, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role in the nonprofit sector. Proven track record in fundraising, including securing major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships. Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and financial reporting. Excellent time management and prioritizing and delegating tasks as needed. Expertise in leveraging technology trends to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness, previous experience in Excel, Monday.com, and database management is a plus. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences. Passion for and experience in serving families in need or similar populations is strongly preferred.
